NSW: 20 people killed on nation's roads over Easter period
The death of a 72-year-old motorcycle rider in Tasmania's north has taken the national
Easter road toll to 20.
Police say the BMW motorcycle and a Ford sedan collided about 3.20pm (AEST) yesterday
on the Bass Highway at Parramatta Creek.
The elderly man was thrown from his bike and later died at the Latrobe Community Hospital.
No-one in the car was hurt.
Tasmania's Easter road toll now stands at two.
Western Australia and Victoria have recorded six fatalities each, Queensland has four
and New South Wales two.
South Australia, the ACT and the Northern Territory remain fatality-free.
(Eds: AAP's Easter road toll figures are for the period 0001 April 17 to 2359 April
21. Some states and territories may have different periods).
